The Light Knows You Before You Apologize
The room is bright now, and you are wearing the face everyone expects. You laughed when the joke landed.
You joined in the laughter at someone just like you, all while knowing, with a sinking certainty, that you are that person. The mask fits so well it feels like skin.
But the light sees the tremor beneath the smile. It knows the cost of that performance.
There was a man who climbed a tree just to catch a glimpse, small and hidden behind the leaves of his own shame. The light stopped, looked up through the crowd, and called him by name before he had even apologized.
It did not wait for the mask to come off. It invited itself to his table exactly as he was.
You do not have to earn the right to take the mask off. The light already knows the truth, and it is coming to your house today.
