You Are Not Required to Be Full
The phone lights up on the table, and your stomach drops before you even see the name. You know what it means.
Another demand. Another crisis.
Another request for a piece of you that you do not have left to give. In the long middle of the day, this is the quiet desperation: the feeling that you are running on empty while the world keeps asking for more.
You want to turn the screen face down and never look again. But listen — the light does not require you to generate more energy.
It only asks you to remain. A branch does not strain to push out grapes; it simply stays attached to the vine, and the life flows through it without effort.
You are not the source of the water. You are the channel.
And when you have nothing left, that is exactly when the vine carries the weight for you. The dread tells you to run or to perform.
The truth invites you to stop. You are not required to be full to be used.
You are only required to stay.
