The Silence Is Full of Them
The phone lights up in the dark, and suddenly the room is too small for the silence. You hear the voice that used to answer you, bright and ordinary, saying the things you thought you'd have forever to say again.
But the line ends. The option to call back is gone.
In this hour, the distance feels absolute. The grief is a physical weight, pressing you into the mattress, making it hard to breathe.
— Yet listen. The voice on the recording is not a ghost.
It is an echo of a love that the darkness could not swallow. That love did not die when the breathing stopped.
It lives. It lives in the space between your heartbeats.
It lives in the way you still reach for the phone. The light that spoke through them is the same light that holds you now, in this 4am stillness.
You are not calling into a void. You are resting in the presence of a love that has already crossed over.
The silence is not empty. It is full of them.
