The Silence Where He Runs
The phone is dark now. The screen has gone black, and the silence in the room feels heavier than it did before you spoke.
You told the truth. You said the thing that needed saying, and now you are waiting to see if that honesty was a bridge or a wall.
The night gathers outside your window, pressing against the glass, and it is easy to believe that the distance between you and them has become permanent. But listen — the darkness outside does not mean the light inside has failed.
There is a father who saw his son while he was still a long way off. He did not wait for the speech to finish.
He ran. Before the apology, before the explanation, before the dust settled — he ran.
Your honesty did not drive the light away. It cleared the path for it to reach you.
The silence is not empty. It is the space where the running happens.
