Put Down the Phone and Rest
The phone buzzes in your hand, but it is only the ghost of a impulse you cannot quite suppress. You want to send one more text to explain, to clarify, to fix the silence that has fallen between you and someone else.
Your thumb hovers over the glass, ready to type the words that will make it right. But the light knows that some bridges are not meant to be crossed in the dark.
There is a father who saw his son coming home from a long way off. He ran.
Before the apology, before the speech — he ran. The explanation was never the point.
The embrace was. Put the phone down.
The thing you are trying to say with words is already held in the silence. The light does not need your clarification to know your heart.
It knows the ache behind the thumb that wants to reach out. Rest now.
The morning will bring a clarity that midnight cannot manufacture. You are not responsible for fixing tonight what the dawn will heal.
