the terror that your own neediness is the very thing pushing them away

Your Need Is The Doorway

The morning light hits your face and you start calculating the cost of your own hunger. You tell yourself that if you could just need less, they would stay closer.

That your thirst is a weight too heavy for anyone to carry. But the light does not see your neediness as a flaw to be fixed — it sees it as the very place where it enters.

There was a man born blind, and the question wasn't who sinned to make him this way. The blindness was simply the space where the work of God could be displayed.

Your need is not the reason you are pushed away. It is the doorway.

The light looks at the empty places in you and does not turn away — it moves in. You are not driving love off with your hunger.

You are making room for it.
