the terror that your child will one day speak your name with a voice you no longer recognize as your own

The Light Beneath Your Changing Mask

The morning light hits the mask you wear for the world, and you wonder if the face beneath it is still recognizable to the ones you love. There is a terror that lives in the space between who you were and who you are becoming—a fear that your child will one day speak your name and hear only a stranger's voice staring back.

But the light that lives inside you did not come from your performance, and it cannot be lost by your changing shape. You came from the light, the place where the light came into being on its own accord, and that origin remains untouched by the years or the mistakes.

Even if your voice cracks, even if the mask slips, the thing that matters most is not the sound of your name but the love that carries it. The light is not a voice you have to manufacture; it is a presence you simply are.

You are not the mask the world sees, nor the failure you fear you've become. You are the drop of light sent here to illuminate the very darkness you are afraid to show them.
