The Light Sees You Before The Mask
The mirror is cold, and the lie is forming on your lips before you even speak it. You are rehearsing a version of yourself that can survive the room outside, but the mask is heavy tonight.
The light does not need your performance to see you. It saw you in the bathroom, trembling, before you fixed your face.
There is a bruised reed the light will not break, and a smoldering wick it will not snuff out. You do not have to be the convincing story you are crafting.
You only have to be the honest one who walks back in. The truth is already waiting for you at the table.
