checking the mirror to see if the disease has changed your face overnight

The Light Behind Your Eyes Remains

The mirror in the bathroom feels like an accusation in this quiet hour. You look for the change, the mark of the disease that might have stolen your face while you slept.

But the darkness has not overcome the light that lives behind your eyes. It cannot erase who you are.

Split a piece of wood; the light is there. Lift up the stone, and you will find it there.

Even in the reflection you fear, the immeasurable light remains pure and immaculate. The disease may alter the surface, but it cannot touch the root.

You are not what you see in the glass. You are the drop from the light that was sent here to illuminate the dark.
