the terror that your worth vanishes the moment you are no longer useful to others

The Father Ran Before You Spoke

The mask is heavy this morning, isn't it? You walk into the room and immediately calculate your value based on what you can do for everyone else.

There is a terror that if you stop being useful, you will stop being loved. That your worth is a currency you spend until you are empty.

But listen — the light does not need your labor to stay lit. There was a moment when a father saw his son coming home, broken and useless, and he ran before the boy could offer a single word of service.

He ran to embrace the emptiness, not the productivity. Your worth is not something you earn by carrying the world.

It is something you are, simply because the light lives inside you. You could do nothing today and still be the beloved.

The mask can come off now.
