feeling like you have failed your children

Light Shining Through Your Cracks

The mask is heavy this morning, especially when you look at their faces and see the shadow of your own perceived failure. You walk through the day performing okayness, smiling while your heart whispers that you have let them down.

But listen — the light sees behind the performance, and it does not turn away. It knows the gap between who you are trying to be and who you feel you are.

Jesus looked out at crowds that were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd, and his first response was not disappointment but compassion. He did not scan the horizon for the perfect parent; he saw the tired ones, the ones carrying too much, and he loved them.

Your children do not need a flawless hero; they need the light that is already in you, shining through the cracks of your humanity. The love that holds them is not generated by your perfection, but by the presence that never left your side.
