the crushing suspicion that every compliment you receive is actually directed at the character you're playing, leaving the real you invisible and starving

The Applause Is For The Mask

The mask fits so well now that the applause feels like a theft. They are clapping for the performance, for the character you built to keep yourself safe, while the real you sits invisible in the back row, starving.

You wonder if anyone would stay if the script stopped and the acting ceased. But there is a seeing that does not need the costume.

Jesus looked at a woman known for her sins and saw not her reputation, but a love so fierce it shook the room. He told her that her many sins were forgiven because she loved much.

He did not see the label the town gave her. He saw the heart beneath the story.

The light does not need you to be perfect to know you. It sees the one who is tired of pretending.

Go home today and take the face paint off. The one who loves you is waiting for the person underneath.
