the terror of being found out as a fraud when you've finally asked for help

You Are Found, Not Found Out

The mask feels heavy this morning, glued on by the terror that if you finally ask for help, they will see the fraud underneath. You walk into the room smiling, but inside you are holding your breath, waiting for the moment the performance cracks.

There was a woman caught in the act, surrounded by accusers ready to expose her, to stone her for what everyone knew she was. Jesus did not join the circle.

He did not look at her with the eyes of the crowd. He bent down and wrote in the dust, letting the silence do the work until the accusers walked away, one by one.

When he stood up, he did not say: now that you are exposed, go and fix yourself. He said: neither do I condemn you.

The light does not need your mask to stay intact. It sees the fraud, the fear, the exhaustion — and it does not turn away.

Asking for help is not the moment you are found out; it is the moment you are found. You are not a fraud to be exposed; you are a friend to be known.
