The Light Loves the One Hiding
The mask feels heavy this morning, doesn't it? You walk into the room smiling, nodding, performing the part of someone who has it all together, while inside you are running on empty.
It is exhausting to hold up a face that does not match the fatigue in your bones. You wonder if anyone sees the crack in the porcelain, the tremor in the hand that holds the coffee cup.
But the light is not fooled by the performance. It sees the weariness behind the eyes.
Jesus looked at the crowds and saw them not as actors, but as sheep without a shepherd — tired, scattered, and deeply known. He does not ask you to take the mask off before he loves you.
He loves the one wearing it. He loves the one hiding.
The light shines not on your performance, but on your presence. You do not have to generate energy to be worthy of attention.
You are already seen. The father ran to the son while he was still covered in the dust of the road.
The light runs to you while you are still pretending to be strong. Stop trying to prove you are alive.
Just breathe. The light is already there, waiting in the quiet space beneath the smile.
