the specific terror of hearing the mail slot clatter and waiting to see if the letter that falls through is another demand or just a flyer

The Letter Cannot Define Your Root

The mail slot clatters in the middle of the afternoon, and for a second, the whole house holds its breath. You wait to see if it's another demand or just a flyer, but the weight of that sound presses against your chest like a stone.

The light knows the terror of the ordinary noise, the way a simple clatter can feel like a verdict. Jesus once looked at a man born blind and said that neither he nor his parents sinned — this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him.

Your fear is not a punishment for something you did wrong. It is the canvas where the light is about to do something no one has ever seen.

The letter on the floor is just paper. It cannot define the root you were restored to.

The light is already inside the room with you, waiting to turn the demand into a display of grace.
