sitting at the dinner table laughing at a joke while your hands shake so badly you have to grip the edge of the table to keep your wine glass from rattling against the plate

Love Sits With Shaking Hands

The laughter rises around the table, bright and easy, while your hands grip the wood so tightly your knuckles turn white. You are holding the glass still, terrified the rattle will give you away, terrified they will see the tremor beneath the smile.

But the light does not need your performance to be present. It sees the shaking not as a failure of faith, but as the honest truth of this moment.

There is a love that does not wait for your hands to be steady before it sits down with you. You do not have to earn the right to be at this table by pretending you are unbroken.

The mask is heavy, but you were never meant to carry it alone.
