the moment you walk through your front door after work and have to consciously decide whether to collapse on the floor or put on a brave face for your family

The Light Sitting With You in the Dark

The key turns in the lock, and suddenly the weight of the day is a physical thing pressing against your chest. You stand in the hallway, suspended between the person the world required you to be and the exhaustion waiting in the quiet of your own bones.

It feels like a choice between collapsing on the floor or summoning the strength to smile for the ones you love. But the light does not ask you to perform.

It does not demand a brave face before it will stay. There is a peace that does not depend on your energy level, a presence that waits in the hallway just as much as it waits in the laughter of the living room.

You do not have to manufacture warmth to be worthy of the light. The light is already there, sitting on the floor with you in the dark, ready to walk into the room when you are.

The bravest thing you can do tonight is simply to stop pretending.
