The Script Is Finished, The Actor Is Loved
The house is quiet now, but your mind is loud with the scene you cannot stop editing. You replay the exact second the harm began, rewriting your lines, searching for the one sentence that could have stopped it.
If only you had spoken sooner. If only you had been sharper.
If only you had been different. But the night does not allow do-overs.
It only allows the watching. And in this watch, the truth arrives: you were not asleep then, and you are not alone now.
The light was in the room when it happened, and it is in the room while you grieve what you cannot change. You are trying to save a moment that is already gone, but the light is only concerned with the person who remains.
You do not need to fix the past to be held in the present. The script is finished.
The actor is still loved.
