Love Is in the Running Not the Fixing
The house is quiet now, but your mind is loud with the things you could not fix today. You watched them hurt, and you felt the terrible weight of your own small hands.
You wanted to take the pain away, and you couldn't. That helplessness feels like failure.
It feels like you are not enough. But listen — the light does not require you to be the savior.
That was never your job. There was a father who saw his son coming home from a long way off.
He did not wait for the boy to clean himself up. He did not wait for a perfect apology.
He ran. Before the speech, before the promise to do better — he ran.
The love was in the running, not the fixing. You are not failing because you cannot remove the suffering.
You are succeeding because you are still here, watching, loving through the ache. The light is not in your power to change the outcome.
It is in your willingness to sit in the dark with them. You are held, even when your hands are empty.
