rehearsing the apology you will never say because you know it won't fix the look in their eyes

The Light Holds the Broken Space

The house is quiet now, but your mind is loud with the speech you are rehearsing. You know exactly what you would say to fix the look in their eyes, and you know with sinking certainty that words cannot reach that deep.

The silence of the night makes the distance feel permanent. But there is a light that shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

It does not depend on your apology to exist. It was there before the mistake, and it is here now, holding the space where the relationship broke.

You do not have to fix the unfixable tonight. The light is already making a way where there is no way.

The look in their eyes is not the final word about you.
