The Light Inside Does Not Sleep
The house is quiet now, but your mind is loud with the things you saw in their eyes today. You watch the rise and fall of their chest, terrified that the darkness is still working even in their sleep.
It feels like you are standing guard against a shadow you cannot touch. But listen — the light that lives inside them is older than the pain, and it does not sleep.
It was there before the first tear, and it will be there when the sun comes up. You do not have to hold the whole world together tonight.
The light is already keeping watch.
