Stop Fighting, The Vigil Is Kept
The house is quiet now, but your heart is still racing from the day. You watched them struggle, and you felt that familiar, crushing weight of being unable to fix it.
You wanted to reach in and pull them out, but your hands were empty. That helplessness is a kind of love you didn't ask for.
But listen — the light does not require you to be the savior. It never did.
There was a father who watched his son wasting away in a distant country, feeding pigs and starving. He did not run to rescue him before the boy turned around.
He waited. He watched.
And when the son finally took one step toward home, the father ran. Your job is not to carry them.
Your job is to be the one watching the road. The light that lives in your child is stronger than your fear.
It was there before the pain, and it will be there after you put your armor down. You can stop fighting tonight.
The vigil is already kept by the One who never sleeps.
