The Dawn Has Already Forgiven You
The house is quiet now, but your heart is still shouting. You stand over the small, sleeping face and wonder if the sharp words you spoke earlier have carved a permanent scar.
The night feels heavy with the inventory of your failures. But listen — the light that rose this morning did not wait for you to be perfect before it warmed the room.
It shines on the just and the unjust, on the parent who tried and the parent who failed. That same light is resting on your child's chest right now, breathing them in and out, untouched by your anger.
It was there before you lost your temper, and it is still there now that you have quieted. The light does not break when you break.
It holds. You are not defined by your worst moment, but by the love that remains — the love that brought you back to this doorway to watch them breathe.
The dawn has already forgiven you; it is time you forgave yourself.
