One Flame Burning Together Through Dark
The house is quiet now, but you can feel the weight of what wasn't said today. You see it in the way they laugh a little too quickly, or how they change the subject when the silence gets too deep.
They are learning to carry their own storms so they don't add to the rain already falling on you. They think their pain is a burden you cannot hold.
But listen — the light that lives in them is not a weight. It is a lamp.
When they hide their hurt, they are not protecting you; they are hiding the very thing that could guide you both through this gathering dark. There is a love between you that is stronger than the silence they are trying to keep.
The light does not ask them to be small so you can be safe. It asks only that you remember: you are not two separate burdens trying to survive the night.
You are one flame, burning together. The terror says you must shield them from your darkness, but the truth says the only way through is to let them see you, and let yourself see them.
