Rest Is Not Betrayal But Ground
The house is quiet now, and your own stillness feels like a betrayal of the one who cannot sleep. You lie there holding your breath, as if resting means you have forgotten the pain, or worse, abandoned the person who is still awake in the dark.
But the light does not keep watch by wearing itself out. It watches by staying present, even in the silence.
There is a father who saw his son coming home from a long way off, and he ran — before the apology, before the speech, he ran. He did not wait for the son to prove he was worthy of rest.
He ran to meet him there. Your rest is not a turning away.
It is the very ground where the light meets you. The terror says you must stay awake to be faithful.
The truth says the light is already holding both of you. You can close your eyes without losing love.
