The Father Runs Before You Speak
The house is quiet now, and the voice you are trying to find feels cracked, unfamiliar. You are afraid that if you finally speak in this new tone, the people who loved the old you will turn away from the stranger you have become.
They might not recognize the person standing in front of them. But listen — the light does not require you to sound the way you used to.
There is a father who saw his son coming home from a long way off, changed and broken, and he did not wait for an explanation. He ran.
Before the apology, before the speech — he ran. The love that meets you tonight is not looking for the person you were.
It is running toward the person you are. Your truth, even in a cracked voice, is the only thing that can be loved.
Speak it.
