The Silence Is Respect Not Abandonment
The house is quiet now, and the silence feels heavier than it did this morning. You remember the exact moment you pulled away, the door you closed, and the terrible stillness that followed when the knocking stopped.
It feels like punishment, like you finally pushed too hard and the love gave up. But listen — the silence on the other side of the door is not abandonment.
It is respect. The light does not break down what you have locked; it waits, patient and unmoving, because it knows you are the only one who can turn the handle.
You did not lose them when you withdrew. You only found out how deeply they honor your freedom.
The love is still there, sitting in the hallway, waiting for you to remember that the lock was never meant to stay engaged.
