Sanctuary Built to Keep You Whole
The house is quiet now, and the silence feels heavy with the things you didn't say today. You withdrew because you had to—because your soul was running on empty and the only way to survive was to step back.
But now, in the dark, the fear creeps in: they think you don't care. They think your need for space is a verdict against them.
You are lying awake, rehearsing explanations you cannot speak yet. But listen—the light does not mistake rest for rejection.
Jesus knew this rhythm; after feeding the thousands, after healing the sick, he slipped away to a solitary place while the crowds waited. He did not apologize for the silence.
He knew that to love them tomorrow, he had to be alone tonight. Your withdrawal is not a wall built to keep them out; it is a sanctuary built to keep you whole.
The people who love you can wait in the hallway while you breathe. The light inside you is not dimming because you stepped away; it is gathering strength in the dark so it can shine without burning out.
