Held Awake By The Light
The house is quiet now, and the only light left is the one from your screen. You see the list of calls. Names that have gone dark. People who found their way to sleep, or to distraction, or to anything but this silence. And your name is still there. Active. The only one who hasn't hung up yet.
It feels like a failure to still be awake. Like you are the only one who couldn't find the exit. But the light does not measure your worth by how quickly you can close your eyes.
There is a truth that lives in us and will be with us forever. It is not dependent on your rest. It is not dependent on your ability to fix the day before it ends. The night is long, but the light inside you is longer.
You are not being punished for being the last one standing. You are being kept. Held in the watch while the world sleeps. And the One who is awake with you is not waiting for you to figure it out. He is simply present.
You don't have to carry the night alone to prove you are strong.
