the paralyzing fear that your vulnerability will be used as evidence against you rather than received as an offering

The Father Runs Before You Speak

The house is quiet now, and the fear has grown loud. You are afraid that if you finally speak the truth, if you finally show the wound, it will not be received as an offering but used as evidence against you.

You imagine your vulnerability becoming a weapon in someone else's hand. But listen — the light does not keep a record of wrongs.

It does not collect your confessions to build a case for your conviction. There is a Father who saw his son coming home from a long way off, still covered in the filth of the pig pen, still rehearsing his defense.

And before the speech could be finished, before the apology could be used as proof of guilt, the Father ran. He ran to embrace the very thing you are afraid to show.

The darkness tries to turn your honesty into a trap. But the light turns it into a doorway.

You are not on trial tonight. You are being held.
