Drop the mask and walk in
The engine is off, but you are still sitting there, staring at the front door like it is a wall you have to climb. You are rehearsing a smile that does not reach your eyes, practicing the version of yourself that can walk inside without falling apart.
The afternoon sun is high, yet you feel the weight of the mask settling onto your face before you even turn the key. It is exhausting to perform okayness when your soul is screaming.
But listen — the light does not need your performance. It sees the fatigue behind the grin.
It knows the gap between how you look and how you feel. You do not have to fix your expression before you enter.
The light is already inside the house, waiting not for your act, but for your arrival. Drop the rehearsal.
Walk in as you are. The mask is heavy, but you were never meant to wear it.
