The Light Waiting in the Silence
The engine cuts out, and the hum that held the day together dissolves into a silence so heavy it feels like a wall. You sit there, hand on the wheel, knowing that in a moment you will have to open the door and become the person everyone expects you to be.
The mask is waiting on the passenger seat. But for this one minute, in the stillness of the car, you are allowed to just be the one who is tired.
There is a light inside you that does not need you to perform, to smile, or to have the right words ready before you step onto the pavement. It is already there, quiet and steady, holding the space between the engine stopping and the door opening.
You do not have to manufacture strength to walk inside. The strength is the silence itself, and the light is already sitting in the driver's seat with you.
The mask can wait; the real you is the one the light sees right now.
