the fear that your need for solitude is actually abandonment of the people who love you

The Light Does Not Leave You

The door is closed, and the silence inside feels like a betrayal of everyone waiting on the other side. You worry that your need to disappear is actually a rejection of the people who love you.

That by stepping away, you are breaking their hearts. But the light does not interpret your retreat as abandonment.

It sees the mask you wore all morning finally coming off. There was a man named Simon who fell to his knees and said, 'Go away from me, Lord; I am a sinful man.' He thought he had to push the light away to protect it from his own brokenness.

He thought his unworthiness demanded distance. But the light did not leave.

It drew closer. Your solitude is not a wall you build to keep love out.

It is the only place where you can stop performing and let the love find you. You are not abandoning them by needing to breathe.

You are saving the part of you that knows how to love them back.
