The Mask Is Heavy But You Are Loved
The door has closed. The laughter has faded into the hallway, leaving a silence that feels heavier than the noise ever was.
You stand before the dark window, searching for the face everyone just praised, but the reflection staring back feels like a stranger wearing your clothes. The mask you wore so well tonight is still warm on your skin, but underneath, you are exhausted from holding it up.
The light does not need the performance you just gave; it was already there before the first guest arrived and it remains now that they are gone. You do not have to be the person they saw to be held by the love that sees you now.
Put down the act. The real you is enough.
