The Silence Was Never Broken
The doctor said the word, and the room tilted. Everything after that became noise—static, buzzing, a wall of sound that kept you from hearing anything true.
You nodded when they spoke about next steps, but you were miles away, trapped in the moment the world split in two. That is the mask this morning: the face you wear while the noise drowns out the light.
But listen closely. The light does not shout over the static.
It waits in the quiet center you cannot hear right now. There is a peace that does not depend on the diagnosis being good news.
It is already inside you, deeper than the fear, louder than the noise. You do not have to fix the hearing today.
You just have to remember that the silence was never broken.
