You Are the Reason the Table Was Set
The day is ending, and the silence in the room feels heavy with a specific kind of doubt. You wonder if your presence was merely tolerated today — a burden others bore with polite patience rather than genuine joy.
It is a crushing weight to feel like an imposition, to believe you are only welcome when you are useful or quiet. But listen to the truth that waits for you in this exhale.
There is a voice that does not count the cost of your company. Jesus stood at a door once and said, "Here I am!
I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that one, and they with me." He did not ask to inspect your performance.
He did not ask if you had earned your place at the table. He asked for a meal.
The most ordinary, intimate act of friendship. To eat with someone is to say: I want to be where you are.
You are not a guest who must make themselves small to fit the room. You are the reason the table was set.
The light does not tolerate your presence. It desires it.
