Before You Apologize, He Runs
The day is ending, and the armor finally comes off. But before you can rest, your mind starts rehearsing.
You are practicing the speech you will give tomorrow for needing so much help today. You are drafting the apology for being heavy, for being tired, for taking up space with your pain.
Stop. The light does not need your explanation.
It saw you stumble, and it did not look away. There was a father who saw his son coming home from a long way off.
He did not wait for the speech. He ran.
Before the apology, before the excuse, before the promise to do better—he ran. Your need for comfort is not a failure.
It is the door. The light is not waiting for you to be strong again.
It is waiting to hold you while you are weak. You do not have to earn the right to be held tonight.
