The Lamp That Stays On In The Hallway
The day has finally slowed, and the exhale comes with a weight you cannot set down—the ache of watching a child stumble and knowing your hands cannot fix it. You have tried to be the shield, the solution, the anchor, but tonight the silence reminds you that some lights must be kindled from within, not handed down from above.
Remember the father who ran toward his son while he was still a long way off, covered in dust and failure; he did not wait for the speech, the apology, or the cure—he ran because the love was already there, already moving. You are not the light that heals your child, but you are the lamp that stays on in the hallway, a steady glow that says you are not alone.
You do not have to carry the whole night; the light that holds your child is far greater than the darkness you fear, and it is already working in ways your eyes cannot see. The love that runs to them does not depend on your ability to save them.
You are enough simply by being the one who stays.
