typing out a long explanation to prove you aren't too much, then deleting it all because you're afraid sending it will confirm their worst fears about you

The Light Remains When Words Are Deleted

The cursor blinks in the dark, a small pulse against the silence of the room. You have typed out everything—the long explanation, the defense of your heart, the proof that you are not too much.

And then you stopped. You deleted it all because you were afraid the sending would confirm their worst fears.

But notice what happened in the silence after the deleting. The light did not leave with the words.

There is light within a person of light, and it lights up the whole world even when the screen is black. You do not need to prove your worth to the darkness; the light was already there before you typed the first letter.

The words you deleted were never the source of your belonging. You are held in the quiet, exactly as you are, without the explanation.
