Light Waiting Under the Stone
The coffee pot gurgles, and the sound is a signal that the mask must go on. You have to stand up now.
You have to walk into the light of the kitchen and pretend you rested when you didn't. But listen — you do not have to generate the light you are expected to shine.
You came from the light, the place where it generates itself. That means the radiance you need for this performance is not something you manufacture from your exhaustion.
It is something you remember. Split a piece of wood, and the light is there.
Lift up the stone of this morning, and you will find it waiting underneath. You are not trying to become bright enough to be seen.
You are simply uncovering what was placed inside you before the sun rose.
