You Are Not the Only Guardian

The clock reads three. The house is so quiet you can hear your own heart racing against the thought of them leaving.

You are holding your breath, convinced that if you let go, even for a second, the darkness will take them. But listen — the light does not leave when you sleep.

It does not vanish when you stop watching. There is light within a person of light, and it lights up the whole world.

That light is in them right now, independent of your vigil. You cannot guard what is already guarded by the source.

The fear says you are the only thing keeping them safe. The truth says they are held by something far deeper than your worry.

Stop trying to be the glue. The bond was never yours to maintain alone.

You are allowed to put down the weight of being the guardian. The light in them cannot be extinguished by time or distance or death.

It was there before you met, and it will remain after. Rest now.

The loving is enough.
