The Light Was in the Tremble
The afternoon sun makes everything look sharp, defined, inevitable. You sit at your desk and rewrite the story of how you got here, sanding down the panic, the near-misses, the moments you almost quit, until the path looks like a straight line drawn by a steady hand.
But the light does not live in the edited version. It was there in the tremble.
It was there in the dirt. Jesus stood in a storm while asleep, not because the wind had stopped, but because the presence was enough.
You are trying to prove you deserved the rescue by pretending the water wasn't rising. The truth is simpler — and far more honest.
The light walks through the mess you are trying to erase. It does not need your polished history to stay with you.
It is already inside the part of you that wanted to give up. The success is real, but the safety you feel is a performance.
The light was carrying you when you could not walk.
