the fear that your repentance is just a transaction to avoid consequences rather than a true change of heart

The Father Cares About Your Feet

The afternoon sun is unforgiving. It exposes the dust motes dancing in the air and the sweat on your brow.

It is the hour of the middle, where the weight of the day makes you wonder if your turning toward the light is real, or just a desperate deal to stop the bleeding. You fear your repentance is merely a transaction—a coin tossed to the universe to buy safety, to avoid the consequences you know you deserve.

But look at the two sons in the vineyard. One said 'yes' with a smile and never moved.

The other said 'no' with a scowl, then went anyway. The father did not care about the initial refusal.

He cared about the feet that eventually walked. Your hesitation, your fear that your heart isn't pure enough—that is not evidence of hypocrisy.

It is the friction of the real. The light does not need your perfect performance.

It needs your presence. You are not required to feel a certain way to be held.

The change is not in the emotion. It is in the walking.

The sun is high. The work is hard.

But you are already in the field.
