the terror that your private relapse has permanently severed the invisible tether to grace, leaving you spiritually orphaned

The Tether Was Never Held By You

The afternoon sun is unforgiving, exposing the dust motes dancing in the room and the stain on your soul you thought you had scrubbed clean. You believe the relapse has snapped the line, that you are now drifting in the silence of a severed connection, spiritually orphaned by your own failure.

But the light does not operate on the logic of your shame. There was a woman, caught in the act, surrounded by accusers ready to crush her, waiting for the verdict that would end her life.

The light bent down, wrote in the dirt, and when the crowd dispersed, it asked where her condemners had gone. When she said they were nowhere to be found, the voice spoke the truth that overrides your terror: neither do I condemn you.

Go. The tether was not severed by your fall, because it was never held by your grip in the first place.

You are not an orphan; you are the one who was just told to walk away from the accusation and keep living.
