The Father Ran Before You Spoke
The afternoon sun is high, and the work feels endless. You keep moving because you are terrified that if you stop, the love you finally receive will vanish with your productivity.
You believe you must earn your place at the table, one task at a time. But there was a father who saw his son coming home from a long way off — dirty, empty-handed, with nothing to offer but his presence.
Before the apology, before the speech, before any promise to work harder — the father ran. He did not wait for the resume.
He did not wait for the restitution. He ran to the one who had nothing left to give.
The light does not love you for what you carry. It loves you for who you are when your hands are empty.
You are not a machine that must produce to be held. The love you fear losing was never dependent on your speed.
It was there before you started, and it will be there when you stop. Rest is not the end of grace.
It is the place where you finally remember you are already home.
