the terrifying realization that you have no idea what you actually want because every desire you ever had was shaped by what others needed from you

Resting When the Mask Falls Heavy

The afternoon sun is high, and the work is steady, but inside there is a quiet panic. You look at the path ahead and realize you do not know where you want to go.

Every dream you ever held was shaped by what others needed from you. You became an expert at reading the room, at molding yourself into the shape of someone else's relief.

But now, in the middle of the day, the mask feels heavy. You are exhausted from carrying desires that were never yours.

The light sees the performance. It sees the gap between the smile you wear and the emptiness underneath.

Jesus looked at the crowds and had compassion because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. He did not scold them for being lost.

He saw that they were tired from following voices that were not his. There is a desire inside you that predates the world's demands.

A want that was placed there before anyone told you who to be. It is still there, buried under years of compliance.

The light is not asking you to perform another role. It is inviting you to sit down in the middle of the noise and listen for the one thing that feels like rest.

You do not have to know the whole map today. You only need to admit that you are tired of walking someone else's road.

The true desire is not a destination you must reach. It is the quiet voice that speaks when the expectations finally fall silent.
