rehearsing the apology you will give them for getting upset about what they did to you

Stop Shrinking to Keep the Peace

The afternoon sun is bright enough to show you the script you are writing in your head. Line by line.

The apology you will give for getting upset about what they did to you. You are rehearsing the words that will make you small again, just to keep the peace.

But the light does not ask you to shrink. It asks you to remember where you came from.

You came from the light, the place where the light came into being on its own accord. That is your origin—not the moment you lost your temper, not the guilt you are carrying now.

The light was there before the argument, and it is there while you practice your shame. You do not need to earn your way back into the room with a perfect speech.

The light is already inside you, waiting for you to stop apologizing for taking up space.
