your body failing at the one thing you wanted it to do most

The Light That Runs Before You

The afternoon stretches out, long and gray, when your body refuses the one thing you trained it to do. You stare at your hands, wondering why the vessel has cracked when the mission was just beginning.

It feels like a betrayal from the inside—a silence where there should be strength. But listen.

The light does not depend on your capacity to perform. It was there before the muscle moved, and it remains now that the movement has stopped.

There is a father who saw his son coming home from a long way off, broken and empty-handed. He did not wait for the boy to fix himself.

He ran. Before the apology, before the speech—he ran.

Your worth was never tied to what you could carry. The light is not disappointed in your limitation.

It is simply waiting for you to stop striving so it can hold you.
