The Light Runs Before You Speak
The afternoon stretches out, long and flat, and you are staring at a screen that says 'it's fine.' You know those two words are a wall. You know the silence behind them is louder than any scream.
It is the quiet desperation of the middle of the day, where everyone is performing okayness while breaking inside. But the light does not read the surface.
It reads the root. There is a father who saw his son coming home from a long way off.
He did not wait for the speech. He did not wait for the apology to be perfected.
He ran. Before the words could even form, he was already there.
The distance you feel is real, but it is not the final truth. The light is already running toward the place where the words failed.
You are not defined by the cold reply. You are defined by the love that refuses to stay away.
