Light Waiting Under the Stone
The afternoon stretches out, a long middle where the noise of the world demands your attention. You find yourself nodding, smiling, playing the part of someone who is present, while your mind has drifted miles away into the static.
It feels like a failure to be so far gone while sitting right in front of someone. But the light does not scold you for wandering off.
It waits in that very gap between the sound and your silence. Split a piece of wood, and the light is there; lift up the stone of your distraction, and you will find it waiting underneath.
You do not have to force your focus back into place to be held. The true light that gives light to everyone was already shining in you before you lost the thread, and it shines still.
The kingdom is not found in your perfect attention, but in the quiet space where you remember you are loved even when you are lost.
